Old Business

Sympathy and Get Well Budget and Policy – Updates were made to the policy to address budgetary concerns. The policy now is as such:

“When the need arises for the club to show sympathy or condolences for a person connected to the club, they should make an informal communication to Cortney Litwin. Cortney will then coordinate the process of delivering a card. Flowers will be considered on a case by case basis via a committee consisting of Jon Lepper, Lynn Nordhagen and one other member.”

This policy clarification was motioned by Lynn Nordhagen, 2nd by Dora Davis and unanimously approved. There will be a supply of cards left at the church to assist in getting members to sign cards before they are delivered.

New Business

Education Committee – Jan Tenold, Dora Davis, Susan Stiritz and Bev Hardin

There will likely be extra time at the end of print night, where there will be a series of short presentations. This month Ron Sinnott from Camera Care will be giving a presentation on cleaning your camera. In October, Dora Davis will be giving a presentation on rescuing a corrupted SD card.
This is the tentative schedule for “Education Night”, which is the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Valley Hospital Meeting room.

October: Deke Cloyd – Matting
November: Mike Busby – Black and White Photography
December: Spokane Camera Club Christmas Party at San Souci

There will also be a Lightroom/Photoshop study group on the 4th Wednesday of each month. This will be in one of the back rooms of the church, and topics will be decided by participants and taught by participants! If you have something special to teach in Lightroom or Photoshop, bring your skills and share them with others! Plan on bringing your laptop with Lightroom and/or Photoshop installed.

Paying for a 3rd Night at Bethany Church – Jon and Don presented the extra cost of using the church for a 3rd night per month. The cost to use the church is $1 per person/night. There was discussion toward proposing a flat fee of $10 or $15 extra per month to the church for the use of the church on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Motion made by Tamra McGee to propose $15 per month for usage of the church to their board. 2nd by Don Burnell. Motion Passed.

Exhibit at Barrister Winery – The Spokane Camera Club’s exhibit at the Barrister Winery may be rescheduled for September. More info to come soon from Jon Lepper.

Adopting a New Submission Process – As part of the agreement for taking over the Photography Exhibit at the Fair, the club is entitled to the use of the new system that was used for the fair submission process. It would provide for a streamlined process used amongst clubs in our area, as well as the fair.

Some pros: The process would be easier for Dennis, it shows the user/member a nice snapshot of their submissions, and members are able to edit/delete their own entries.

Some cons: May require image resizing, members lack access to technology, webmaster may not be on board.

The board decided to form a subcommittee to discuss this option further. Members of the subcommittee are Dennis Isip, Randy House, Deb Baxter and Doug Oriard.

Annual Christmas Party – Bev Hardin has once again secured San Souci for our Christmas Party/program. If any members are interested in presenting a Travelogue, etc. please let Bev or Jon know!

Meeting Adjourned at 6:55 pm.
