January 2016 Board Meeting Minutes
Minutes of the Jan 6, 2016 Board Meeting

Meeting was called to order at 6:05 pm by president, Jon Lepper.

Members present: Jon Lepper, Lynn Nordhagen, Jan Tenold, Tim Lesser, Steve Shining, Tim Bailey, Randy House, Dora Davis, Dennis Isip, Don Burnell.

Members absent: Barb Murray

Minutes of the December meeting were read by Jan Tenold and approved as read.

Treasurer’s report given by Tim Lesser: $2602.68 in checking, $75 in savings, a $40 check yet to be deposited. We are also expecting the return of our $250 damage deposit to Riverview Retirement Center. The treasurer’s report was approved as given.

OLD BUSINESS

CONTRACT WITH BETHANY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. Jon has signed a contract with the church that allows us to pay $35 per meeting with no longterm meeting commitment. Don moved that we pay Bethany monthly with arrangements to be made between Tim Lepper, treasurer, and Dave Morton, our church contact person. Randy moved that we reimburse Jon Lepper for the first meeting payment of $35 which he paid out-of-pocket. Both motions passed.

REVIEW OF DECISION TO HOLD A MAKEUP MEETING IN JANUARY FOR THE NOVEMBER PRINT MEETING CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER. Randy moved that we rescind the decision made at the December Board Meeting to have an extra meeting in January to show and judge the November prints. The motion carried. Dennis then moved that we show the November “general category” prints at January print night and that we show the November “subject category” prints at February print night. The motion carried.

It was noted that any prints scheduled to be shown at print night in November may be submitted to salon, whether or not they have been judged at the January or February print meetings. Members showing their November prints in January or February are still allowed the usual 2 general and 2 subject prints in addition to their November prints.

STEVE SHINING’S REPORT ON WEST KOOTENAY CLUB PHOTO SHOW. Steve has volunteered to be one judge for the show. Steve is still looking for another qualified judge from Spokane. No one on the board volunteered for the job so Steve will contact the other local clubs for a volunteer.

NEW BUSINESS

POSSIBLE SCC GROUP SHOW. Jon and Dave Powers have contacted Barrister Winery to arrange a group show. Barrister is checking their schedule but it seems the show would probably be scheduled for the spring of 2017. A committee would be needed to coordinate the show and make decisions regarding which prints could be submitted, how many per person, the acceptable format for the prints, etc. Everyone was excited about this possibility!

LYNN’S REPORT ON SALON. Everything seems to be progressing nicely. The date will be Saturday, April 30 at a venue yet to be determined. Many of the volunteers from last year have volunteered again this year making her job a bit easier. Thank you, Lynn!

STATUS OF EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS. Most board members seem to be getting notifications sent by Jon and by Dennis. Jon is working with our web master guru, Doug Oriard, to work out any glitches.

Meeting adjourned at 6:50 pm.
Minutes recorded by Jan Tenold, secretary
